R.A.F. Waddington

My Son is based at Waddington

I went down to R.A.F. Waddington last week 23/24th November 2010 to visit my son and his wife. It was a cold couple of days. I took the opportunity to do some "spotting" whilst my son was working and the ladies went shopping in Lincoln. It was pretty cold by the time i had to go back for tea.

Winter 2010

Early November

Winter has come early

Just a couple of photographs taken from the breakfast area of  our home in Ormesby. We were warned about this but locally the Local Council doesn't seem to have been over succesful with gritting etc. Plenty of School closures. All I can sayis that they manage successfully in Scandanavia. Our local Airport Durham Tees Valley is closed yet again, missing out on one of our few Winter Holiday flights. Funny enough it was due to re open 30 minutes after the flight diverted to Newcastle.

Thanks to Les

Website

I want to start by thanking Les Danks for re vamping my website, and to everybody who has browsed the site over the years. I hope to be able to spend more time in the coming weeks and months uploading new photographs to  the site.  The whole site is based on the major hobbies and interests in my lif. Aeroplanes, wildlife and trying to record the many things i see as i am going around the local area and around the country.

As you will have guessed the Defence Cuts are seriously going to cut down variety and oportunity of hardware that will be available to photograph. Unfortunately my local airport also has serious health issues, including a new Flight Tax. Much has been made of this in the local press but it is something that many airports do to help profits.

Sad to see them go along with the Harrier.Unfortunately the role that they were designed for in the early 70s has long gone.
